What is Summer Bridge?

The Peach State LSAMP "Building Bridges" Summer Institute is an intensive three-week preparation program starting in the Summer of 2023. The program provides students with the opportunity to attend mock STEM classes, become acclimated with UGA’s campus, participate in STEM-related field trips, take research lab tours with esteemed UGA faculty, become socially engaged with their program cohort, and attend informational workshops with various student services departments at UGA. The program schedule includes workshops regarding effective resume writing, lab tours, research presentations, and panels focusing on student services available at UGA.

During the academic year, eligible Summer Bridge participants may become Peach State LSAMP scholars. Click here for more information about Peach State LSAMP Scholars at the University of Georgia.

Who can apply?

Incoming first-year students at the University of Georgia who:

  • Identify as an underrepresented  (African Americans, Hispanic/Latinos, Native Americans, Alaskan Natives, and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islanders) person in STEM.
  • Will pursue majors in STEM
  • Will begin their studies in Fall 2023

Students selected for 2023 Summer Bridge will attend the UGA First Year Orientation scheduled for July 11th and 12th. The Office of Admissions will move those students who are selected for Summer Bridge to attend the 2023 Summer Orientation session that coincides with our Summer Bridge schedule.
